Multigrain $8: When stationed at The Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California I frequented a bakery that made the best multigrain I had ever had. Dark, fragrant, soft and rich, and studded with all sorts of nutty and delicious seeds, it was in my opinion, perfect! Made with organic golden flaxseed, organic quinoa, organic einkorn, organic sunflower seeds, organic millet, organic blackstrap molasses, organic rye flour, local Marburger buttermilk and dark, Valrhona cocoa, our decadent multigrain is I think a wonderful representation of what this bread is supposed to be! Its perfect with butter and jam or alternatively with cheese and meats! Each loaf weighs approximately 1.75 pounds. Available every day.
Pain au Levain - Sourdough $7: Although the production method for this type of sourdough is more involved, I initially chose to produce this European sourdough here at Blue Door because it is a delicate and elegant representation of what this bread is supposed to be. Using a 30 year old sourdough culture that I made myself with organic grapes (while stationed in sunny southern California), this bread is baked on a stone hearth with plenty of steam. This versatile sourdough is perfect with butter and jam or in virtually any application I can think of. Pain au Levain is vegan and contains no commercial yeast. Each loaf weighs approximately 2 pounds. Available Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.
Braided Challah $8: Made in the traditional way with only eggs, water and expeller pressed, non gmo canola oil, our challah is braided in six strands. Washed with only egg yolk and cream, challah is perfect for sandwiches and also makes an amazing french toast. Each braided loaf weighs approximately 1.5 lbs. Available Friday, Saturday, Sunday
